19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led observers to question if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
